APAVA (Asociación para la Protección de Animales Vulnerables y Abandonados) is a Spanish animal welfare charity dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable, abandoned, and at-risk animals.
We focus on providing essential veterinary care to those who need it most, including cats living in street colonies, as well as animals in shelters who require urgent medical attention.

Our mission is simple:
To ensure that every animal receives the medical care they need to live a healthier, safer life.
We work tirelessly to support street cat colonies, providing sterilisations and vaccinations to prevent suffering and overpopulation. For shelter animals, we fund one-off treatments that can save lives and improve their chances of adoption.

Street cat colonies are home to thousands of stray cats across Andalucía.
These animals often endure harsh conditions, exposure to disease, and minimal access to essential veterinary care. Many shelters are overwhelmed and under-resourced, unable to meet the urgent medical needs of every animal they take in. At APAVA, we believe these challenges are not insurmountable. By targeting areas with the highest need and supporting both feral and sheltered animals, we help create healthier communities, prevent suffering, and give animals the care they cannot seek for themselves.
You can help us make this work possible. By donating, volunteering, or spreading awareness, you join our mission to protect vulnerable animals and give them a chance at life free from suffering

APAVA is an animal welfare charity in Andalucia, providing street cat care, shelter support, and promoting responsible animal welfare.
We prioritise vulnerable street cats and shelter animals needing urgent medical care in Andalucia, focusing on the most at-risk cases.
Neutering, or sterilising, community and stray cats is crucial in managing cat populations humanely. It prevents unwanted litters, curbing the cycle of stray cats often born into hardship. Left unchecked, these populations can grow rapidly, resulting in malnutrition, disease, and suffering due to limited resources. Neutering also helps reduce disruptive behaviours such as fighting, yowling, and marking, making colonies healthier and quieter neighbours. By neutering, shelters and animal welfare groups like APAVA can focus their resources on urgent medical care rather than constant influxes of kittens needing homes or support. This practice is at the core of compassionate, sustainable cat care.
APAVA offers sterilisation, vaccination, veterinary treatment for animals that need urgent animal medical support.
